CAPTD

Instagram Grid Maker

Cut one photo into tiles that join up: a profile grid, three across, so the photo shows as one big picture on your profile — or a carousel panorama you swipe across. The tiles are numbered in the order to post them. Cut in your browser; your photo is never uploaded.

Cut entirely in your browser — your photo is never uploaded anywhere.

Instagram doesn't publish the shape of the tiles on a profile grid. Pick the shape your own profile shows — tiles are made at a size Instagram accepts as a post.

Your photo is cut into tiles on this page. It's never uploaded or saved.

Turn this into a whole campaign

A grid is a series of posts. Spotlight's Campaign mode writes the whole series — a caption for each tile and the hashtags — from one brief.

Campaign mode is part of the Spotlight workspace on CAPTD's paid plans — see pricing.

How to use this

What it does

Cuts one photo into equal tiles. A profile grid is three tiles across (one, two, three or four rows), so on your profile they line up into the full picture. A carousel panorama is two to five slides side by side in one post, so swiping pans across the photo.

What you'll need

  • One photo — a wide or detailed one works best
  • Profile grid or carousel, how many rows or slides, and the tile shape

Steps

  1. Choose the photo.
  2. Pick the layout and tile shape, then drag the frame to choose the part of the photo.
  3. Download the ZIP and post the tiles in number order.

Reading the result

The numbers on the tiles are the posting order. On a profile the newest post is top left, so the bottom-right tile goes up first and the top-left last; post them one after another with nothing in between, or the picture breaks.

Tips

  • Leave the subject away from the tile edges — thin gaps separate the tiles on the profile.
  • Use the carousel for a panorama: it stays one post, so it can't be split by other posts.
  • A big grid needs a big photo: three 1080-px tiles across need a photo at least 3240 px wide.

How does an Instagram grid post work?

Each grid tile is posted as its own post. Instagram shows a profile three posts across with the newest top left, so tiles posted in the right order — bottom right first — line up into one picture. Instagram publishes post sizes from 1.91:1 to 3:4 at 1,080 px wide, but not the shape its profile grid crops posts to.

A carousel panorama is the other way to post a wide photo: slides of the same shape, side by side in one carousel, so it pans as people swipe.

Why creators use it

A grid turns a profile into a poster for a launch or a series, and a panorama shows a wide view that a single post would shrink.

Common mistakes

  • Posting in the wrong order. the first tile you post ends up bottom right.
  • Something else posted in between. one extra post shifts every tile along and breaks the picture.
  • Faces on the tile edges. the gaps between tiles cut through them.

FAQ

What order do I post the grid in?
In number order, 1 first. The newest post shows top left, so the picture builds up from the bottom right.
What size are the tiles?
3:4 1080 × 1440, 4:5 1080 × 1350, 1:1 1080 × 1080 for a profile grid; carousel slides are 4:5 1080 × 1350 or 1:1 1080 × 1080 or 3:4 1080 × 1440.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It's cut on this page and the tiles are saved straight to your device.
