Giveaway Comment Picker

Copy the comments from your giveaway post, paste them here, set the rules and draw a winner. There's no login and no connection to your account. The comments stay on this page, and the draw uses your browser's cryptographic random numbers.

Times, like counts and Reply buttons copied along with the comments are ignored.

What the platforms require of a giveaway

Facebook

  • Entrants must release Meta from liability and acknowledge the promotion isn't sponsored, endorsed or run by Meta.
  • The promotion must not require or reward sharing, reposting or tagging others.
  • You need official rules, terms and eligibility.

Instagram

  • A complete release of Instagram by each entrant, and an acknowledgement that Instagram doesn't sponsor or run it.
  • Don't tag content inaccurately or encourage entrants to.

X

  • Say that anyone entering from several accounts is out.
  • Don't reward duplicate posts; say that several entries a day won't count.
  • Ask entrants to mention you, and keep hashtags relevant.

A summary, not legal advice — giveaway law also depends on where you and your entrants are.

The comments you paste stay on this page and are gone when you leave it. Nothing is saved or sent to CAPTD.

How to use this

What it does

Reads the comments you paste, works out who wrote each one and who they tagged, keeps the entries that follow your rules, and draws the winners and alternates at random. Each eligible entry has exactly the same chance.

What you'll need

  • The comments, copied from the post (in the app, the web page or an export)
  • Your rules: one entry per person, tags, a keyword, accounts that can't win

Steps

  1. Open the post's comments and copy them all.
  2. Paste them here and check the number of comments read.
  3. Set the rules, then draw. Copy the result to announce or keep.

Reading the result

Eligible entries are the comments that pass every rule; people is how many different accounts that is. With one entry per person on, each person has one chance however often they commented. Each winner shows the line it came from, so you can find the comment in the post.

Tips

  • Draw once, with everyone watching (a screen recording or a live) — it's the draw people trust.
  • Keep a couple of alternates in case a winner doesn't reply.
  • Copy the comments after the giveaway closes, so late entries aren't in the paste.

How to pick a giveaway winner fairly

Close the giveaway, collect every entry, take out the ones that break your rules, then pick at random — with each remaining entry equally likely. This page does the last two steps.

The random numbers come from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, the generator browsers use for security, and the pick uses rejection sampling so no entry is even slightly more likely than another.

Why creators use it

Picking by scrolling isn't random, and people can tell. A clear draw with written rules keeps entrants trusting the next giveaway — and the platforms ask for rules anyway.

Common mistakes

  • Requiring tags on Facebook. Meta's promotion rules say a giveaway must not require or reward tagging others.
  • No written rules. Instagram and Facebook both ask for official rules and a release.
  • Counting multiple accounts. X asks you to say that entering from several accounts doesn't count.

FAQ

Do I need to log in with Instagram?
No. You paste the comments in; this page never connects to your account.
How do I copy all the comments?
Open the post's comments, load them all (scroll to the end), then select and copy. On a computer, the web version is easiest. Times, likes and Reply buttons that copy along are ignored.
Is the draw really random?
Yes — it uses the browser's cryptographic random number generator, with each eligible entry exactly as likely as any other.
Are the comments stored?
No. They stay on this page and are gone when you close it.
