Write a caption that starts a conversation
Want more comments on the next one? Snapshot's Engage goal writes the caption to start a conversation — a question, a this-or-that, a call to reply.
Snapshot opens with the Engage goal picked. What each plan includes: see pricing.
Open SnapshotAdds up a post's interactions and divides them by your followers, by the accounts the post reached and by its impressions — the three ways engagement rate is usually worked out — and shows which one X and LinkedIn use in their own analytics.
The three numbers will differ: reach is smaller than followers for most posts, so the reach rate is higher. None is the right one; what matters is comparing like with like — the same formula, post after post.
Engagement rate is the share of people who interacted with a post — liked, commented, shared, saved or clicked — as a percentage of an audience: your followers, the accounts the post reached, or the times it was seen.
There is no single official formula. X defines it as engagements divided by impressions; LinkedIn as interactions per impression. Instagram reports interactions and accounts engaged but publishes no engagement rate.
Follower counts say how big an account is; engagement rate says whether people care about what it posts. Brands ask for it, and it's the quickest way to see which of your posts worked.
TikTok, YouTube and Facebook publish no engagement-rate definition.
