How to use this

What it does

Keeps a wedding's suppliers in one list — role, name, Instagram handle and website — and writes the credits three ways: a caption block with @handles, a blog or gallery list with websites, or a plain list. Two suppliers with the same role share a line.

What you'll need

  • Each supplier's role and name, and their @handle or website if you have them

Steps

  1. Fill in the suppliers; add roles with the chips.
  2. Pick the style — caption for a post, blog for your website.
  3. Copy and paste. Start a new wedding when you're done.

Reading the result

In the caption style a supplier shows by @handle, or by name if there's no handle. Instagram allows 20 @tags in one caption; the counter warns you before you go over.

Tips

  • Ask suppliers for their handle on the day — it's quicker than searching later.
  • Credit in the first comment if the caption is long.
  • Suppliers who are credited share the post — that's how new couples find you.

Why credit wedding vendors?

Credits name the people who made the day: the venue, planner, florist, dress designer, hair and makeup artists, caterers and band. Couples look for them, and suppliers share posts they're tagged in.

A blog or gallery credits list with links helps the suppliers' own websites and makes your post the reference for that wedding.

Why photographers use it

Wedding work comes from referrals between suppliers. Crediting every one of them, the same way every time, is the easiest networking there is.

Common mistakes

  • Wrong or old handles. check them once, keep the list.
  • Too many @tags. Instagram allows 20 in one caption.
  • Forgetting the quiet ones. stationery, rentals and transport deserve a credit too.

FAQ

How many people can I tag in an Instagram caption?
Up to 20 @tags, according to Instagram's developer documentation.
Is my list saved?
Yes, in this browser. Use 'Start a new wedding' to clear it.
Does it check the handles exist?
No — it tidies them (removes spaces, symbols and instagram.com links) but doesn't look anything up.
