CAPTD

How to Use CAPTD for Your Podcast or YouTube Channel

Episode mode in the Spotlight workspace, step by step.

Episode mode writes the promotion for one podcast or YouTube episode from the show notes or transcript you paste: a post for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok and a YouTube community post, a short episode description for Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube, pull quotes and hashtags — in one generation, in the language you pick.

Step by step

  1. Open the Spotlight workspace and switch to Episode.
  2. Paste your show notes or transcript. Up to 20,000 characters are used; if you paste more, the end is cut and CAPTD tells you how much was left out.
  3. Optionally add the show name, the episode title, the guest's name and the episode link.
  4. Optionally add a cover image (CAPTD writes its alt text) or a short clip of up to 3 minutes (its audio is transcribed and used as extra context).
  5. Or, instead of pasting text, upload the episode's audio (see “Uploading the audio” below) and correct the transcript before you generate.
  6. Pick the tone, emoji level and output language, then press Generate.
  7. Review every post before you publish. Each one has its own copy button and a character counter for its platform, and every field can be edited.

Uploading the audio

  • Formats and limits: MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG or WebM, up to 3 hours and 500 MB per recording.
  • What it costs: 1 pack for up to 60 minutes, plus 1 for each extra hour started — so 1, 2 or 3 packs. The cost is shown before you upload, it's charged only if the transcription works, and the first pack you generate from the transcript is included.
  • The transcript: labelled Speaker 1, Speaker 2… with timestamps. Give each speaker their name and fix any names or terms the transcription got wrong — the posts are written from your corrected version. You can download it as TXT, or as SRT subtitles.
  • What you get on top: chapters with timestamps, five title ideas, key takeaways, the resources mentioned, a guest bio, three to five clip moments with start and end times and an on-screen hook, and — if you tick them — a newsletter draft and a blog post draft.
  • Your recording is deleted: it's removed from our storage as soon as it has been passed to our AI provider for transcription, and from there as soon as the transcription ends. Only upload a recording you have the rights to and that everyone in it has agreed to — see our Privacy Policy and Terms.

Recording, RSS import and subtitles

  • Record audio: up to 30 minutes in the browser, with pause and stop. Keep the screen on — if the phone locks or you switch app, the browser may stop the recording, and CAPTD offers to keep what was recorded. It then costs and works exactly like an upload.
  • Import from RSS: paste your podcast's feed address and pick one of the latest 20 episodes; CAPTD fetches its public audio and transcribes it, for the same packs as an upload. Only import a show you own or have the rights to.
  • Upload subtitles: an SRT, VTT or TXT caption file — on YouTube, Studio → Subtitles → ⋮ → Download. It's read in your browser, nothing needs transcribing, and the pack costs 1 pack as usual.
  • On iPhone, Voice Memos recordings can be uploaded too: Share → Save to Files, then upload.

After the transcript

  • Speaker names: CAPTD can suggest names from introductions in the transcript (“my guest today is…”), each with the words it heard; nothing is applied until you confirm.
  • Templates: save up to 10 sets of instructions for how each output should be written (“show notes: short intro, 3 bullets, guest links at the end”) and pick one before generating.
  • YouTube pack: a video description with chapters that follow YouTube's rules (the first at 00:00, at least 3, at least 10 seconds apart), tags and a comment to pin.
  • Translate: the whole pack into another language in one click, keeping timestamps, names and links.
  • Chat with your episode: ask what the guest said about a topic, or for post ideas from a stretch of the episode — answers come only from the transcript, with timestamps. 20 questions per pack; the conversation is saved with the pack in History.

Video, clips, audiograms and quote cards

  • From a video: upload the episode's MP4 or MOV. CAPTD takes the audio out in your browser and only that audio is uploaded for the transcript — the video never leaves your device.
  • Quote cards: any pull quote as an image (1:1, 4:5 or 9:16, dark or light), with the guest's name and your show.
  • Clips and audiograms: a suggested clip moment, or any part up to 90 seconds, as a video clip from your episode's video (cropped to 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9, with captions) or as an audiogram — a waveform with captions — from its audio.
  • Clean audio: on by default — the loudness evened out to the podcast standard (−16 LUFS), peaks kept safe and a little background noise lowered.
  • Everything is made in your browser and saved on your device; nothing is uploaded. It needs a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari, and a computer is quickest for longer clips.

Tips for better results

  • Paste the transcript, not the summary. Pull quotes are copied word for word from the text you paste — CAPTD checks each one against it and drops any it can't find — so a transcript gives it real lines to quote. You get up to 5, or none at all if the text has nothing quotable.
  • Add the guest's name and the episode link. CAPTD only uses names, facts and links you give it, so a guest it isn't told about stays unnamed. The link is placed the way each platform works best: in the text on Facebook, X, Threads and YouTube, “link in bio” on Instagram and TikTok, and the first comment on LinkedIn.
  • Post the clip version on TikTok and Reels. The TikTok and Instagram posts are written as captions for a short clip or the cover — upload your clip to those platforms with them.
  • Post the quote version on LinkedIn and X. Lead with one of the pull quotes, or pair it with the LinkedIn or X post, where a strong line from the episode does more than an announcement.

What you get

  • One post per platform (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok and a YouTube community post), each fitted to that platform's length limit, with its own hashtags.
  • An episode description for Spotify, Apple Podcasts and your YouTube description.
  • Pull quotes, word for word from your text.
  • Hashtags for the episode, and alt text for the cover image if you added one.
  • From an uploaded recording: chapters, title ideas, takeaways, resources, a guest bio, clip moments and the optional drafts.

Episode mode is part of the Spotlight workspace, so it is available on the same plans as Spotlight — see Pricing. One episode pack counts as one generation (an uploaded recording costs 1–3 packs, as above).
