Spotify Canvas is the short looping video, or still image, that plays full-screen behind a track in the Spotify mobile app instead of the cover art.
Check a Canvas against Spotify's rules, or make one from a video or photo.

Canvas is the first thing a listener sees while a song plays on a phone, so it is a chance to show the mood of the track, the artist or the artwork in motion. Artists add it per track in Spotify for Artists.
Spotify publishes the rules: 9:16, 720–1080 px tall, 3–8 seconds, as an MP4 or JPG file, and warns that an upload can fail if the size or length is even slightly off. It publishes no width, frame rate or file size limit.
A singer has a slow-motion clip of herself turning towards the camera, filmed on a phone in landscape. She crops it to 9:16, trims it to a six-second loop so the cut back to the start isn't obvious, and exports it 1080 px tall.
Uploaded in Spotify for Artists, it plays behind the single on every phone, and the loop lands on the beat because she trimmed it to two bars.
